First edition, quarto, a large copy, possibly unwashed; bound in modern half leather, front hinge repaired; purchased from Ximenes in 1979; 7 3/8 x 5 1/4 in.
This anonymously published play was inspired by The Wallace, a long romantic poem that retells the story of its titular character, the Scottish freedom fighter and knight Sir William Wallace (c. 1270-1305), the same poem that inspired screenwriter Randall Wallace to write the script for Braveheart in 1995.
